The delegation accompanying Hassan included JSP Secretary-General Hussein Sheikh Mahmoud, lawmakers, ministers and other senior officials. The reception drew supporters from various districts and communities across the Galgaduud and Mudug regions.
Deputy Information Minister Abdirahman Sheikh Yusuf Al-Adala, who led the delegation welcoming the candidate and is also heading his campaign, thanked Galmudug residents for their support for the JSP and their participation in the state’s political process.
Speaking at the reception, JSP Secretary-General Hussein Sheikh Mahmoud praised residents for preparing for the upcoming public elections and urged them to support the party’s candidate.
Hassan thanked the crowds and officials who had travelled from different areas to welcome him. He also formally declared his candidacy for the Galmudug leadership and outlined three priorities he would pursue if elected: strengthening security, promoting reconciliation among Galmudug communities, and eliminating al-Shabaab militants from areas of the state within six months.
The reception highlights the JSP’s efforts to mobilize support ahead of the Galmudug elections, which are expected to shape the state’s political leadership for the 2026–2031 term.
